Crop Production Course
If you are interested in starting your own farm business but need to learn technical skills to get started, the Crop Production Course is for you!
In this course, you will learn how to:
- Identify sustainable agriculture practices
- Create a crop plan
- Manage a greenhouse
- Buy and maintain farm equipment and machinery
- Set up a drip irrigation system
- Manage soil nutrients
- Manage weeds and use cover crops
- Identify pests and implement pest management strategies
- Learn how to prepare crops for market and comply with food safety regulations
- Connect with agencies that provide services for new farmers
No experience is necessary to take this class! New Entry farmers, teachers, and industry experts will present hands-on classes on Sunday afternoons at our incubator farm in Beverly, MA, with special emphasis on emerging and innovating sustainable practices. You will also be able to spend time helping out on our farm and class demonstration plot. The Crop Production Course meets in person 10 times from May through September at our incubator farm, in addition to weekly online curriculum modules.

Scholarships: We are proud to offer scholarships to those in financial need. You will be asked to provide a copy of your most recent tax return. Once we have all required information from you, please allow 10 business days for us to get in touch with you regarding your scholarship acceptance and the discount we can provide. You will then be asked to register for the class using Event Brite with a discount code that we will provide for you.
